Don walked to STM from 49th Street in Our Mother of Sorrows Parish and won letters in three sports. He played basketball all four years and as a sophomore, was part of the team that went on to win the Eastern States Championship in Glen Falls NY. He was Team Captain and an All-Catholic selection in his senior year.
As a "60-Minute Player" in football, Don played both running back and defensive end. He also compete in high jump for the track team. A sell-rounded student in Scientific courses, Don was a member of Student Council and stage crew for the school play and Varsity Follies. He went on to play basketball at Temple under the guidance of Harry Litwack, and was part of the undefeated freshman team that included future 76ers Guy Rogers.
Don and his wife live in nearby Somerdale NJ.
