Hall of Fame Inductees 2000
BERNARD Q. O'HANLON '41
From Our Lady of Victory parish, Barney played both varsity football and basketball for three years at STM. He was selected to the 1940 Evening Bulletin's First Team All Catholic Football at the halfback position and was selected to that same newspaper's All Catholic Basketball Second Team as a guard. Barney played in the famous 2-0 football game we lost to West Catholic in 1940 on a blocked punt attempt. Barney is married to Peg, has five children and seven grandchildren and spends his winters in Florida and summers in Ocean City, NJ.
PASQUALE CALABRESE '51
Pat "Chocolate" Calabrese from St. Donato parish, was one of four brothers who passed through STM. Pat played both ways on the STM football team for four years as a wide receiver and a defensive back. In 1951 he was named Captain of the team and was selected to the Second Team All Catholic squad. Pat was the only All Catholic Football player that year selected from STM. He also played two years of varsity baseball. Following his graduation from STM, Pat coached both basketball and baseball at all levels for many years. He was married to Jean and had two children. Sadly, Pat passed away in October 1994 after a long bout with cancer. His son, Ricky, accepted his father's Hall of Fame Award at the ceremony.
FRED CALABRESE '57
Brother of Pat, and also from St. Donato, Fred participated and lettered in three sports at STM - football, basketball and track. He played quarterback on the football team for two years and was selected to the All Catholic Team for two years. He became the coach of the Freshman Basketball team and assisted coach Al Goukas with the varsity team. Fred received the Joseph D. ("Tubby") Walker award for his basketball performances. Since STM did not field a baseball team during his time, Fred played semi-pro baseball and was regarded as one of the top performers in the league. Fred lives with his wife Anne in Broomall, Pa. They have four children.
ROBERT J. WILLIAMS '66
"Rob" Williams came to STM from St. Rose of Lima parish. Rob only ran track in his senior year, and what a year it was! During that season, Rob won every 100 and 220 yard dash in every dual meet he entered. In the Catholic League Championships, Rob finished first in both the 100 and 220-yard dash events. In the State Catholic Track Championships that same year, he placed second in the 100-yard dash with a time of 10.1. At the graduation ceremony, Mr. Frank Croley (track coach) presented Rob with the St. Thomas More Father's Association trophy in recognition of his outstanding efforts as a member of the track team. Rob lives in Norristown, Pa. and is a member of St. Francis of Assisi
parish.
